ALLIANCE, Ohio—The Mount Union women's basketball team fell at home 65-46 against Ohio Athletic Conference foe Wilmington Saturday afternoon.
The Purple Raiders (4-7, 1-3 OAC) were led by sophomore
Dae Dae Nash (Akron / Buchtel) with 12 points while shooting three of six from the three point line. Senior
Gretchen Koken (Harmony, Pa. / Seneca Valley) led the charge in rebounding with nine rebounds including five offensive.
Leading Wilmington (8-2, 2-2 OAC) was Kennedy Lewis scoring 17 points while shooting 9 of 11 from the free throw line.
Wilmington took a 19-13 lead after the first quarter connecting on six shots while Mount Union connected on five. The difference in the quarter was six made free throws for Wilmington.
The second quarter Mount Union connected on just three shots and three free throws for 10 points while Wilmington remained hot from the floor connecting on nine shots while just shooting 13 to take a 44-23 lead into the halftime break.
Over the final two quarters Mount Union outscored Wilmington 23-21 leaving the final score of 65-46.
Mount Union returns to play after the New Year on Wednesday, January 4th at home taking on Baldwin Wallace at 7 pm.
