WAYNESBURG, Pa – Mount Union's women's soccer team improved to 2-0 on the season with a 2-1 win Saturday at Waynesburg.
The Purple Raiders started the scoring early as
Andrea Decker (Hilliard / Hilliard Bradley) fed
Madison Pepper (Uniontown / Lake) for a score in the ninth minute to make it 1-0.
It stayed 1-0 until the 73rd minute when Decker gave Mount Union a 2-0 lead on an unassisted goal.
Waynesburg (0-1) tried to start a rally with a goal from Haley Johnson a little less than two minutes later but the Yellow Jackets came up empty on two shots in the final 15 minutes to give Mount Union the win.
Freshman goal keeper
Rylee Oldfield (Liberty Twp. / Lakota East) picked up six saves in the win for the Raiders.
Mount Union stays on the road, playing at Allegheny, Wednesday, Sept. 8 at 7 p.m. in Meadville, Pa.
