Box Score ALLIANCE, Ohio -- Mount Union's men's lacrosse team defeated Capital 15-10 in Ohio Athletic Conference play Wednesday night.
This is the first victory for Mount Union over Capital since the 2013-14 season.
The Purple Raiders got four goals from Alek Kungle (Hartville / Lake) and Logan Gebhart (McDonald, Pa. / Canon-McMillan).
Alex Ellison (Uniontown / Lake) and Mark Zusman (Willoughby / Willoughby South) both scored two goals for Mount Union.
Eli Ciotti (Canonsburg, Pa. / Linsly), Matt Bisono (Deer Park, N.Y. / Deer Park) and Justin Kroeger (Mentor) all scored one goal to improve Mount Union's record to 5-3 overall and 3-2 in the OAC.
Capital got three goals from Evan Frund and fell to 5-3 overall and 2-3 in the OAC.
Mount Union got off to a fast start with Ciotti scoring a goal 31 seconds into the game with an assist from Gebhart.Capital responded with three goals of its own to take a 2-1 advantage.
A goal from Kungle and Zusman tied the game up at three but a Capital goal with 2:10 left in the period gave Capital a 4-3 lead at the end of the first quarter.
Mount Union got another fast goal to start the second quarter on a pass from Jacob Dodd (Ridgley, Md. / North Caroline) to Kroeger scoring in nine seconds.
Neither team scored for 9:40 until a goal from Ellison gave Mount Union a 5-4 lead. Just 45 seconds later Bisono scored a goal giving Mount Union a 6-4 lead. Capital responded with 2 goals of its own to go into the half tied at 6.
Mount Union outscored Capital and doubling its score in the third quarter outscoring Capital 6-1. Kungle scoring three of his goals in the period, Gebhart scoring two goals and Zusman scoring a goal.
Capital started the fourth quarter with a 2-0 run to close the score to 12-9 but two goals from Gebhart and a goal from Ellison closed the game for the Raiders.
The Raiders got on offense thanks to face-off specialist Chris Motter (Hudson) who won 16-of-29 faceoffs while Kyle Reihner (Scranton, Pa. / Scranton Prep) had 30 saves for the Raiders in goal.
Mount Union will travel to Wilmington on Saturday April, 17 at 1 pm for an OAC Conference game.
