Box Score 2 NEW CONCORD, Ohio -- Ryan Osman (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Moon) followed up his first pitching victory last week with his first complete game Sunday in a 4-0 Mount Union win as the Purple Raiders split a pair of games with Muskingum in an Ohio Athletic Conference doubleheader at Mose Morehead Field.
Mount Union, which lost game two, 6-2, now stands at 13-5 overall and 11-5 in the OAC while Muskingum is now 6-7 overall and 6-5 in the OAC.
Osman needed just 87 pitches as he held Muskingum to five hits and struck out four to improve to 2-0 on the season.
The Raiders offense came in the form of the long ball as Zack Mazza (Flint, Mich. / Powers Catholic) hit a solo home run in the first and Walker Marlowe (Berlin Center / Western Reserve) cranked out a three-run homer in the fourth.
Muskingum hurler Brett Carson also pitched a complete as he alllowed eight hits in the loss.
Mount Union jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in game two as Trey Weaver (Franklin, Pa. / Franklin Area) drove in a run in the first and Thomas Gallant (Pataskala / Watkins Memorial) came home on a past ball in the second. The Muskies blew the game open with a five-run fourth and added a run in the eighth for the 6-2 win.
Holden Martin got the complete game win for the Muskies as he held the Raiders to just eight hits.
Dwayne Sumler (Indianapolis, Ind. / Warren Central) struck out seven over 4.0 innings in the loss for Mount Union.
The Raiders play an OAC four-game series next weekend against John Carroll with Saturday's twinbill starting at 1 p.m. in University Heights then a pair of games Sunday at 1 p.m. at Rafeld-Rogers Field in Alliance.
