UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio – Mount Union men's lacrosse team lost 17-5 against John Carroll in Ohio Athletic Conference play Saturday afternoon at Shula Stadium.

The Purple Raiders (3-2, 2-1) were led by junior Alex Ellison (Uniontown / Lake) with two goals.

Senior Alek Kungle (Hartville / Lake) and sophomores Logan Gebhart (McDonald, Pa. / Canon-McMillan), and Eli Ciotti (Canonsburg, Pa. / Linsly, W.Va.) all scored one goal.

Skyler Blake scored nine goals to lead John Carroll (4-1, 2-1).

Mount Union scored first on an Ciotti goal with an assist from senior Jacob Dodd (Ridgley, Md. / North Caroline) just 42 seconds in the first quarter. John Carroll tied the game nine seconds later on a goal from Blake. John Carroll went up 3-1 until an Ellison goal assisted by Anthony Achille (Liberty Township / Lakota East) brought the score to 3-2.

John Carroll went on a 7-0 run through out the first and second quarter until another Ellison goal with an assist by Achille again. Mount Union got another goal with five seconds left in the first half scored by Gebhart.

John Carroll held Mount Union scoreless in the third quarter while scoring three goals.

Mount Union got one goal in the fourth quarter from Kungle with 6:10 left in the game.

Mount Union returns home to host Capital next Saturday, March 27 at 7 p.m. at Mount Union Stadium.
