Softball: Raiders End Season With Loss to Capital in the OAC Tournament

WESTERVILLE, Ohio -- No. 4 seed Mount Union lost to No. 3 seed Capital 7-1 Sunday at the Ohio Athletic Conference Softball Tournament in Westerville.

The Purple Raiders end their season with a 19-23-1 overall record.

On the mound, Allie Scali (Parma/Parma) allowed six runs on eight hits with one strike out as she ended her senior season 7-14.

Kristen Mellott started off the game for Capital with a three-run home run to get a 3-0 lead in the top of the first as Natalie Mabry and Chevonne Hayslett each drove in runs for the Crusaders as they got their lead up 6-0.

Emily Hume (Minerva/Minerva) scored on a passed ball to get the Raiders on the board, 6-1, in the fourth.

A Hayslett two-out single RBI put the Crusaders in a comfortable 7-1 lead in the fifth.

Mount Union left three on base in the bottom of the seventh as Capital advances to the championship round of the OAC Tournament.
