Women's Soccer: Mount Union Enters OAC Tournament After Loss at Otterbein

Box Score

WESTERVILLE, Ohio -- Mount Union's women's soccer team dropped to 10-6-1 overall and 4-4-1 in the conference after falling to Otterbein (12-4-1,5-4) 2-1 in an Ohio Athletic Conference matchup in Westerville.

In a first half that was seemingly even on the statsheet, it was even on the scoreboard. Otterbein narrowly outshot the Raiders 11-8 in the first half. Mount Union got on the board early in the half as Maggie O'Donnell (Avon/Avon) scored her seventh goal of the year on an assist from Katie Goedecke (Akron/Akron St. Vincent-St.Mary) in the second minute. Otterbein squared the game up on a free kick in the 32nd minute by Alyssa Spencer from 15 yards out. The teams went into halftime tied at one.

The second half favored the Cardinals as they outshot the Raiders 14-3 and had eight corners to none from the Raiders. Otterbein scored the only goal of the second half in the 70th minute off the foot of Myiah Kelley.

Senior goalkeeper Paige Freel (Niles/Niles McKinley) made eight saves while playing all 90 minutes for the Raiders.

Mount Union will be the six seed in the Ohio Athletic Conference tournament and play at John Carroll Monday, October 30. An update on the time of the game will be sent out via @purpleraiders and can also be seen on oac.org.
