CANTON, Ohio – Mount Union women's swimming and diving opened the season Friday with a 120-98 win against Division II Malone, in Canton, Ohio.
The Purple Raiders were led by senior Dana Lautenschleger (Solon, Solon), who won the 1000-yard freestyle, 500-yard freestyle and was a member of the 200-yard freestyle relay. Joining Lautenschleger on the relay was sophomore Elise Pichola (Rocky River/Rocky River), senior Ann Zielasko (Silver Lake/Archbishop Hoban) and sophomore Erin Bain (Beaver Falls, Pa./Blackhawk).
Also winning events were juniors Lauren Oktavec (Brunswick/Brunswick) and Regina Saxon (Hudson/Hudson) who won the 200-yard backstroke and 200-yard breaststroke, respectively. Freshman Sarah Hrycyk (Massillon/Jackson) claimed victory in the one-meter diving as well.
A quick turnaround for the Purple Raiders, as they welcome Hiram tomorrow October 21 at 1 p.m. to the Hammond Natatorium.
