MARIETTA, Ohio- Mount Union's softball team extended its win streak then saw it end at six games after a split of a pair of Ohio Athletic Conference games at Marietta Wednesday in Marietta Ohio.

The Purple Raiders won game one 9-1 before falling 8-1 in game to which makes their record 18-10 overall and 4-2 in the OAC while Marietta is 13-13 overall and 3-3 in the OAC.

In game one, Mount Union led 5-0 after a five-run second innning.  Shelby Vansickle (Loudonville/Loudonville) and Brittany Baitt (Painsville/Riverside) each had RBI doubles, Jordan Kramer (Mentor/Mentor) drove in two runs on a single and later scored on an error.

The Raiders scored three more in the fourth off a Brooke Cox (Louisville/Louisville) RBI double and an Andi Vansickle (Loudoneville/Loudonville) RBI triple and then scored on a wild pitch to extend the lead to 8-0. 

Kramer, who went 2-for-3 in the game with three RBI, drove in one last run in the top of the fifth off a double to go up 9-0.

The Pioneers avoided the shutout with a run in the fifth but the game ended after five with Mount Union holding 9-1 lead.

Cox also went 4-for-4 in the game as the Raiders had 13 hits. 

Allie Scali (Parma/Parma) struck out five and only allowed four hits improving her record to 9-6 on the season. 

In game two, it was Marietta that jumped out to a 5-0 lead with five runs in the third.

Mount Union tried to make a comeback in the fourth but only scored one run off a Andi Vansickle double.

The Pioneers scored two more runs in the fifth and one more in the sixth for the 8-1 final.

Erin Simmons (Suffied/Field) would take the loss making it her second loss of the season (9-2).

Mount Union next travels to Ohio Northern Saturday, April 9 for an OAC doubleheader at 1:00 pm in Ada.
