Box Score ALLIANCE, Ohio – The Mount Union women's soccer team wins a thriller at home against Hiram 5-4.
Senior Kelsey Malenic (Poland/Poland Seminary) scored the game-winning overtime goal on a shot just inside the box to give Mount Union (2-3) the win.
Hiram (2-3) scored the first goal of the game at the 29:23 minute mark off of the foot of Allie Glatt.
The Raiders came out in the second half and tied the game at 1-1 after Sophomore Katie Goedecke (Cuyahoga Falls/Akron St.Vincent-St.Mary) scored on a through ball from junior Carolyn Balzano (Poland/Poland Seminary).
The Terriers came back to take a 2-1 lead on a penalty shot by Rebecca Fischer in the 55th minute.
Junior Amanda Davies (Wadsworth/Wadsworth) ties the game back up at 2-2 on a corner from Balzano at the 64:27 minute mark.
Hiram comes back with Glatt's second goal of the game just under a minute later to put the Terriers back on top 3-2.
Goedecke comes back with her second goal of the game off of an assist from Malenic as Mount Union evens up the score again in the 85th minute.
Hiram strikes again three minutes later off of the foot of Alison Crowell from a corner by Kaitlin Zemanski to take a 4-3 lead.
The Raiders tied the game back up for the fourth time of the night on a junior Katie Baker (Hartville/Lake) long free kick to take the game into overtime.
Malenic then ended the game in overtime with a goal.
Mount Union next travels to Penn State Behrend on Wednesday, September 16 at 7 pm.
