Box Score ALLIANCE, Ohio - Mount Union's women's lacrosse team remains unbeaten after a 17-11 win over Denison on Sunday in Mount Union Stadium.
The Purple Raiders (7-0) were led by Taylor Pensyl (Kent/Kent Roosevelt) who scored a career-high six goals while Katherine Doraty (Medina/Medina) and Marjie McNamara (Champlin, Minn./Champlin Park) added three goals each.
Nikki Bonaduce (Kennett Square, Pa./Unionville) made 10 saves in goal for the Raiders.
Denison (3-3) was led by four goals and an assist from Erin Keller.
The Big Red scored the first two goals of the game before the Raiders scored eight unanswered goals to lead 8-2 with 7:37 left in the half. Keller scored back-to-back goals to cut the lead to four but McNamara and Doraty responded with goals only 16 seconds apart.
Denison scored the last two goals of the half to make the score 10-6 at the break.
Denison scored the first goal of the second half but could get no closer than the three goal deficit. Mount Union put the game away with three straight goals from Pensyl, McNamara and Susie Kraus (Sewickley, Pa./Quaker Valley).
Pensyl put the finishing touches on the game with her sixth goal at the 4:40 mark of the second half.
The women's lacrosse team will next be on the field in Meadville, Pa. as they play Allegheny at 1:00 pm.
