CANTON, Ohio- The Mount Union women's swimming and diving team began the 2015-16 season with a non-conference victory, as they defeated Malone, 168-107 on Friday night.
Leading the Purple Raiders were Senior Rose Aldo (Mansfield, Mass./Mansfield) and freshman Gina Saxon (Hudson/Hudson) who each won a pair of events.
Aldo won 50 yard freestyle (26.36) and the 100 yard freestyle (56.68) while Saxon won 100 yard breaststroke (1:09.15) and the 200 yard breaststroke (2:30.51).
Others placing first in their events were Megan Leibensperger (Uniontown/Uniontown) in the 1000 yard freestyle (11:24.61), Dana Lautenschleger (Solon/Solon) in the 500 yard free style (5:22.60), Lauren Oktavec (Brunswick/Brunswick) in the 200 yard backstroke (2:15.60), Mallory Glenn (Bowling Green/Bowling Green), Rebecca Oblak (Strongsville/Strongsville), Peyton Kranz (Berea/Berea), Caroline Buehl (Middleburg Heights/Berea) won the 200 freestyle relay (1:47.40), and Sarah Gonda (Boardmand/Boardman) won the 100 yard backstroke (1:02.99).
Mount Union hosts Hiram tomorrow, Oct 24 at 1pm in the Hammond Natatorium.
