NEW CONCORD, Ohio- Mount Union's volleyball team was defeated by Muskingum in four sets in New Concord, Ohio Tuesday.

The Fighting Muskies (18-8, 4-2 OAC) defeated the Purple Raiders (14-9, 3-3 OAC) by scores of 25-27, 25-23, 16-25 and 17-25.

Sophomore right side hitter Brooke Knollman (Powell/Olentangy Liberty) sparked the offense with a team-high of 15 kills and also tallied four blocks. Sophomore outside hitter Morgan Chapman (Seven Fields, Pa./Seneca Falls) added nine kills to the offense along with having 18 digs.

Sophomore setter Riley Schenk (Lorain/Amherst Steele) led the team in assists with 25 while junior setter Kelly Johnson (McMurray, Pa./Peters Township) dished out 18 assists for the team.

Defensively, freshman defensive specialist Allison Baird (North Royalton/North Royalton) led the Raiders with 38 digs.

The Raiders fell short in the first set losing 25-27. They came out strong offensively in the second set having a hitting percentage of .245 as a team and winning 25-23. While the Muskies fell short, they would respond with a 16-25 victory in set three. Muskingum would go on to win the next set 17-25.

The Raiders are back in action hosting Wilmington Saturday, Oct. 24 at 1 pm in the McPherson Academic and Athletic Complex.
