Box Score 2 ALLIANCE, Ohio – Mount Union's women's softball team rallied in both games to score 5-4 and 14-11 wins in a non-conference sweep of Hiram Thursday at 23rd Street Field in Alliance.
Mount Union is now 7-5-1 overall while Hiram falls to 5-9 on the season.
Trailing 4-3 in the opener, Logan Lehman (Orrville/Orrville) hit her first collegiate home run -- a two-run shot in the sixth inning that turned out to be the game winner in a 5-4 Purple Raider win.
Andi VanSickle(Loudonville/Loudonville) also had three hits while Michelle Stiltner (White Lake, Mich./Lakeland) went the distance to pitch the complete game victory as she allowed only six hits and struck out two.
Angela Perella and Meghan Garland both hit home runs for Hiram.
In game two, Mount Union jumped out to a 2-0 lead on a two-run home run in the first inning from Shelby Carmichael (Dalton/Dalton).
Hiram rallied and took the lead with a seven-run third inning with the big hit coming on a two-run home run from Perella and the Terriers were up 7-2.
Carmichael started the comeback with her second home run -- a solo shot to start the bottom of the third.
Mount Union tied the game with a four-run fourth with three of those runs coming on a triple from Oliva Schumacher (Gahanna/Gahanna Lincoln).
The Terriers put two runs on the board in the fifth to retake the lead 9-7, but the Raiders took the lead back in the bottom of the inning with three runs -- an RBI double from Leigh Siedlak (Westerville/Westerville South) and a two-run home run from Vansickle leaving the score 10-9.
Hiram again took the lead with a two-run sixth to again retake the lead 11-9 but the Raiders put four more runs in the bottom of the sixth with the go ahead runs coming on a two-out, two-run single from Carmichael.
Carmichael finished the game with four hits and drove in five runs while Vansickle and Schumacher each drove in three runs.
Stiltner picked up her second win of the day pitching in relief as she allowed six hits and three earned runs over the final 4.1 innings.
Mount Union next plays Saturday, March 29 at 1 pm in an Ohio Athletic Conference series against Ohio Northern in Ada.
