Men's Lacrosse: Mount Union Hosts Hiram and Trine This Week

Mount Union's men's lacrosse team hosts a pair of games this week -- Wednesday at 7 pm against Hiram and Saturday at 3:30 pm against Trine (Ind.) at Mount Union Stadium in Alliance.

The Purple Raiders are 3-3 on the season and on a two-game win streak after a 6-4 win against Kenyon last Saturday.

Sophomore Michael Taylor (Broadview Hts./Brecksville-Broadview Hts.) leads the Raiders on offense with 10 goals, four assists and 14 points.

Fellow sophomores Mike Richardson (Parma/Holy Name) and Collin Peters (Portland, Ore./Sunset) pace the Mount Union defense as Richardson has a team-best 19 ground balls and nine caused turnovers while in goal Peters has started all six games in goal and is second in the OAC in saves.

Hiram is 1-1 overall as the Terriers are coming off a 10-9 loss to Bethany (W.Va.) last Saturday.

Greg Summers has a team-best four goals while he and Chris Lekan each lead the team with five points.

The teams played a year ago and Mount Union won 21-3 at Hiram.

Trine is 0-5 overall and the Thunder suffered an 8-7 double overtime loss to Benedictine (Ill.) last Saturday.

George Youpel has a team-high seven goals while Chris Ward has six goals and a team-best nine points.

Trine also has one of the best faceoff guys in the nation in Rob Brzezinski, who is 56-of-99 in faceoffs this season.

Mount Union has a road game next Wednesday, March 26 at Bethany (W.Va.).
