Box Score ALLIANCE, Ohio - The No. 9 Mount Union volleyball team returned to its winning form as they defeated Muskingum 27-25, 25-18, 25-18 Tuesday night in the McPherson Academic and Athletic Complex in Alliance.
The Purple Raiders (22-4, 5-1 OAC) were led with 14 kills from Nicole Snyder (Mentor/Lake Catholic) and 23 digs from Lauren Mastroine (Orrville/Orrville).
Morgan Chapman (Seven Fields, Pa./Seneca Valley) got the start for the Raiders and had nine digs to go along with her six kills.
Muskingum drops to 15-13 on the season and 1-5 in conference play. The Muskies were led by Taylor Mathews with 13 assists and six digs.
The first set was tied at 25 before Mount Union scored the last two points of the set on a kill by Snyder followed by an ace by Mastroine.
Mount Union jumped out to an 11-3 advantage before Muskingum battled back to tie the set at 17-17. A 5-0 run with Mastroine at the service line made the score 22-17 and was enough to give the Raiders the win in set number two.
Mastroine was again at the sevice line when Mount Union went on a 10-0 run in the third set. Mount Union controlled the early lead throughout the final set, earning the straight set win.
The volleyball team will play their next game on the road as they travel to Wilmington on Saturday, October 25.
