MELBOURNE, Florida -- Mount Union's women's swimming and diving team was handed their first loss of the season with a 110-83 loss in a non-conference swim meet against Florida Tech Sunday afternoon.
Mount Union falls to 7-1, while Florida Tech improves to 3-4.
Leading the way for the Purple Raiders was senior Shelbey Mitchell (Stow/Stow-Munroe Falls) who took second in the 50-yard freestyle (25.76), sophomore Rose Aldo (Mansfield, Mass./Mansfield) who also took second in the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:19.69, and senior Annie Holy (North Royalton/North Royalton) who swam a 2:24.99 to claim second in the 200-yard butterfly.
The 200-yard freestyle relay team took first place the team of Joan Dregalla (Olmsted Falls/Olmsted Falls), Lauren Lammlein (Uniontown/Hoover), Aldo, and Mitchell swam a 1:43.42.
The Raiders return to the pool on January 17th when they travel to Wooster, Ohio for a non-conference meet at 5:30 pm against the College of Wooster.
