Box Score HIRAM, Ohio – Mount Union's men's lacrosse team won on the road at Hiram 21-3 on Tuesday Evening.
The Purple Raiders (2-3) were led by freshman Michael Taylor (Broadview Heights/Brecksville-Broadview Heights) as he tallied nine points in the contest with five goals and four assists. Freshman Hogan Harris (Medina/Medina) contributed in the game as he totaled five points with four goals and one assist.
The Terriers (0-4) were led by Greg Summers who tallied two points with two goals and Thomas Kuczma who tallied two points with one goal and one assist.
Mount Union took control of the game as they shut out the Terriers in the first quarter while scoring five goals, taking the 5-0 lead into the second quarter. Mount Union got on the board first as freshman Carl Sopczyk (Glens Falls, N.Y./Glens Falls) scored within 58 second of the start of the game.
Mount Union outscored Hiram 7-1 in the second quarter as Summers scored the lone goal for the Terriers. Freshmen duo of Harris and Toren Moore (Columbus/Hilliard Darby) propelled the Raiders scoring two apiece in the quarter. The Raiders took the 12-1 lead into halftime.
The Raiders extended their lead to 16 goals as they outscored Hiram 6-1 in the third quarter before heading into the final quarter of play, 18-2. Mount Union went on for the 21-3 victory as the Raiders put in three goals in the final quarter.
Mount Union travels to Trine (Ind.) Saturday, March 23rd face-off is set for 2:00 pm.
