WESTERVILLE, Ohio -- Fifth seeded Mount Union ended its season with a 1-0 loss at fourth seeded Otterbein in the first round of Ohio Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Tournament Tuesday at Clements Field.
Neither team was able to generate any goals in the first 45 minutes of action, as Otterbein outshot Mount Union 9-4.
It wasn't until the 77th minute, that Madison Burchfield would head the ball into the net off a corner kick, to give Otterbein the 1-0 victory.
In goal for the Purple Raiders, junior Maria Favorite (Chesterland/Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin) faced only two shots on goal, while Otterbein's Dana Strimbu faced three shots on goal.
Mount Union's season ends with a 12-6-2 record as the 12 victories are a school single-season record while Favorite matched the school single season shutout record with 10.
Otterbein (12-6-1) advances to the semifinal round of the OAC Tournament against top-seeded Capital Thursday at 2 pm in Columbus.
