ALLIANCE, Ohio – Mount Union's volleyball team, ranked No. 11 in the nation, defeated Baldwin Wallace 3-0 Tuesday, October 29 in an Ohio Athletic Conference matchup in the McPherson Academic and Athletic Complex.

The Purple Raiders improve to 26-4 overall and 7-1 in the OAC as the Yellow Jackets fall to 10-17 overall and 3-5 in the OAC.

In the 25-18, 25-18, 25-14 three set sweep of Baldwin Wallace on senior night, senior Taylor Webb (Geneva/Geneva) recorded 19 digs, four digs and three blocks. Junior Nicole Snyder (Mentor/Lake Catholic) led the way for the Raiders with 13 kills and 18 digs. Junior Lauren Mastroine (Orrville/Orrville) notched 30 digs in the win as junior Sarah Schleich (Westfield Center/Cloverleaf) tallied 30 assists.

Mount Union junior Brittany Woodard (Diamond/Southeast) dished out 14 assists as junior Sara Brown (Willoughby/Willoughby South) recorded five blocks on the night.

Baldwin Wallace was led offensively by Markema Winters who notched six kills. The Yellow Jackets were led defensively by Taylor Burns, who had 16 digs, Allyson Iwanski, 14 digs, and Arlayna Newcomer who had 12 digs. Shannon Deleur chipped in 16 assists in the loss.

Mount Union concludes the 2013 regular season on the road as they travel to Heidelberg on Saturday, November 2 at 2:30 p.m. for an Ohio Athletic Conference matchup in Tiffin, Ohio. This game will be for the OAC regular season title and the No. 1 seed in the conference tournament.
