ALLIANCE, Ohio - - Mount Union's women's swimming and diving fell 170-114 to Wooster in a non-conference meet Friday evening in the Hammond Natatorium.
With the win, Wooster improves to 4-3 on the season, while Mount Union falls to 8-2.
The Raiders next meet is tomorrow when they travel to Wilmington for an Ohio Athletic Conference meet at 1:00 p.m.
Freshman Sara Fountain (North Ridgeville/Fairview) put on an impressive performance in both the one meter diving events, as she finished in first place in both events with scores of 156.75 and 139.10.
Junior Shelbey Mitchell (Stow/Stow-Munroe Falls) took first place in both of her backstroke events, the 100 (1:01.28) and the 200 (2:15.82).
Mitchell swam in two relays both of which finished in second place, as she swam backstroke in the 200 medley relay (1:53.31) and swam the anchor leg in the 200 free relay (1:44.22).
The 200 medley relay was comprised of junior Courtney Gabel (Fremont/Fremont Ross) who swam butterfly and freshmen Jessica Swanson (Uniontown/Lake) who swam breaststroke and Kaitlyn Goldsmith (Galloway/Hilliard Bradley) who swam freestyle.
The 200 free relay was comprised of sophomore Carly Brown (Strongsville/Strongsville) who swam the third leg, freshman Rose Aldo (Mansfield, Mass./Mansfield) who led off and Goldsmith who swam the second leg.
Gabel finished first in the 50 free (24.47), the 100 free (54.64) and took second in the 100 fly (1:01.54) and Aldo took second in the 200 free (2:02.86).
