Box Score ALLIANCE, Ohio -- The Mount Union Women's soccer team defeated Waynesburg (Pa.) 1-0 Wednesday night at Mount Union Stadium.
The win moves Mount Union to 5-2 overall, which is the Purple Raiders best start to a season in school history.
Freshman Kolbie Haines (Hudson/Hudson) scored the game's lone goal in the 10th minute as she received the ball at the top of box and floated in over Jacket keeper Ciara Scott.
Mount Union outshot Waynesburg (4-3) in the first half 6-4 as the defense held the Jackets to just one shot on net in the first half.
In the second half, Mount Union continued to stifle the Jackets again holding them to one shot on net for the period.
Sophomore Maria Favorite (Chesterland/Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin) made both of the saves for her second shutout of the season.
Mount Union hosts Geneva (Pa.) in its last non-conference game of the season Saturday, Sept. 21 at 2 pm at Mount Union Stadium.
