ALLIANCE, Ohio—The Mount Union softball team dropped a pair of games to Trine (Ind.), 13-0 and 1-0, Saturday afternoon at 23rd Street Field in Alliance.

The Purple Raiders managed just two hits—a pair of singles by Leigh Siedlak (Westerville/Westerville South)—in the first game. Andi Gasco picked up her fifth win of the season, striking out five batters in four scoreless innings for Trine. Bre Willis (Navarre/Fairless) pitched three innings and allowed five earned runs in the loss for the Raiders.

Gasco, Tori Cuebas, and Sarah Belote led the Thunder offense with three RBI apiece. Belote connected on her second home run of the season in the top of the fourth inning. Leah Hall added three RBI.

Mount Union was held scoreless again in the second game, but managed four hits this time. However, the Raiders were unable to score any runs and left 10 runners on base. Their best scoring opportunity came in the first inning. The Raiders loaded the bases with two outs, but grounded out to end the inning.

They threatened again in the fifth inning. Marissa Earl (Massillon/Washington) singled to start the inning. A throwing error on a bunt by Kristen Gromes (Navarre/Fairless) resulted in runners on second and third with no outs. Gasco entered the game in relief for the Thunder and recorded three straight outs to get out of the jam.

Rachel McAninch (West Jefferson/West Jefferson) pitched a complete game for the Raiders. McAninch did not allow any earned runs and had six strikeouts. Searles got the win for Trine. Gasco struck out six batters in relief duty for the save.

Trine scored its only run of the game in the second inning on a stolen base by Jamie Lydick. Haleigh Daniels advanced home on the play.

Mount Union (7-9) returns to action on Monday when they go on the road to rake on Malone in a doubleheader.
