WESTERVILLE, Ohio—The Mount Union women's soccer team suffered a 2-0 loss at Otterbein on Saturday afternoon. A win would have likely qualified the Purple Raiders (8-9-2, 3-6-0) for the Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament for the first time since 2003.

Emily Bates netted two goals in the opening six minutes for Otterbein. The Cardinals controlled the rest of the match, but were unable to score again. They outshot the Purple Raiders, 19-3, and a header by Alyssa Flitcraft (Alliance/Marlington) in the 49th minute was the only shot on goal for Mount Union.

Goalkeeper Maria Favorite (Chesterland/Notre Dame Cathedral Latin) made 5 saves for the Raiders.

Melissa Zang made one save and was credited with the shutout and win for Otterbein (10-5-2, 7-1-1).
