Women's Soccer Nets Come From Behind Victory Over Hiram

The five goals were the most in a game by the Purple Raiders since a 5-0 win against Medaille (NY) on Sept. 8, 2007 and raised their record to 3-5-1 overall.

Hiram (6-2-2) got out to an early 1-0 lead on a goal from Ashley Futo in the game's first minute.

The Raiders answered back as Katie Etling (Mantua/Garfield) knocked in a deflection in the 15th minute.

A Claire Conner goal off a free kick in the 30th minute gave the Terriers a 2-1 lead at the half.

Mount Union came out of lockers firing as junior Deidre Dick (Mansfield/Crestview) tied the game just 2:16 into the second half.

The Raiders took their first lead of the game 53 seconds later as Etling tallied her second score of the game this time off a feed from freshman Kaylee Kolesar (Mentor/Mentor) from 15 yards out.

Freshman Aliesh Sharpe (Niles/McKinley) hit a shot from 45 yards out in the 73rd minute and sophomore Jennifer Sprandel (Green/Green) scored in the 80th minute to put the game away.

Freshman Aubree Lieberman (Cleveland Heights/Cleveland Heights) made her first collegiate start in goal and had four saves to get the win.

Mount Union starts Ohio Athletic Conference Saturday at 7 pm on the road against Baldwin-Wallace College in Berea, Ohio.
