Mount Union College's baseball team (9-5, 2-0 OAC) defeated Ohio
Athletic Conference rival Ohio Northern (8-13, 0-2 OAC) in Ada,
Ohio. The Raiders took the first game 6-3, and won the second
7-6.
In game one, the Raiders scored first after senior/designated
hitter Andy Warner singled to right field, scoring
freshman/outfielder Craig Knott. The Polar Bears would bounce back
in the bottom of the second making the score 2-1 in Ohio Northern's
favor. The Purple and White would score five more runs to make the
final 6-3.
Offensively Knott was 4-4 with two doubles and a stolen base,
Warner was 3-4 with three RBIs.
The Raiders scored six runs on eleven hits with no errors
compared to Ohio Northerns three runs on four hits with two
errors.
In the second game, Mount Union once again got an early lead
with a sacrifice fly from Warner. After runs were traded to put the
Raiders up 3-1, Andy Warner capped off a three run inning with a
two run home run in the top of the fifth to put the Purple and
White up 6-1. Ohio Northern threatend a comeback but the Raider
pitching staff closed the door to give Mount Union a 7-6
victory.
