Box Score 2 Mount Union's baseball team (3-7) earned a split on day #1 of
the Rose Hulman Engineer Classic in Terre Haute, Indiana, on
Saturday, March 17. The Purple Raiders won 6-4 over host Rose
Hulman (5-4) then lost 10-6 against Concordia-Chicago (7-3) in the
second contest.
Against the Engineers, the Purple & White jumped out to a
2-0 lead in the third inning and eventually built the lead to four
at 6-2 before Rose-Hulman closed the gap with a pair of late
runs.
Shawn Kerek (3-0) picked up the victory for the Purple Raiders
going 6.1 innings, allowing three earned runs and fanning five in
the process. Tommy Kerr went the final 2.2 innings, picking up his
first save of the season.
Offensively, Josh Faltot, Andy Warner and Thomas Pfaus collected
two hits each for Mount Union.

In the second contest, Mount Union led 4-3 after three innings,
but a four-run fourth followed by a two- run eighth, and an
insurance run in the ninth earned Concordia its seventh win of the
spring.
The Raiders' Michael Almasy led the attack with a 3-for-3 day
and two RBI at the plate while teammate Andy Warner finished
3-for-4. Brett Thomas (0-3) took the loss for the Purple
Raiders.
Mount Union will play Rose-Hulman on Sunday, March 18 at 11 a.m.
followed by a contest against Edgewood at 1:30 p.m. Follow the
